From early in my career the London Festival of Architecture struck a chord; in a frantic ever expanding city it provides a much needed platform to stop, reflect and celebrate the many impressive achievements of London Architecture. As such I have clocked up over 10 years working on various project alongside the LFA. This year’s theme around Community feels very timely, how we engage with one another within our industry as well as with the wider public to celebrate and promote architecture. Highlights for me include the RIBA Open Studios, going behind the scenes at some of London’s most innovative architectural practices and seeing how they operate, in a professional and sociable capacity. PTE will be opening their offices on Saturday 25th June working in collaboration with the Floating Cinema. Another focus this year is on sustainable communities and I will be interested to see how others are addressing the current housing shortage to benefit all. In response to the renewed political focus on estate regeneration, PTE alongside HTA, Levitt Bernstein and PRP are hosting a breakfast talk on Friday 10th June at the NLA to distil their combined experience into a series of recommendations on how best to meet the challenges of today.
