London Festival of Architecture Royal Docks Design Charrette

NEWS |

The London Festival of Architecture and the Royal Docks Team, in partnership with Newham Regeneration, today launch a call for expressions of interest to participate in a design charrette examining connections between Custom House and Royal Victoria in the Royal Docks.

Ambitious plans by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, and Mayor of Newham, Rokhsana Fiaz, for the £314 million regeneration of the Royal Docks over the next five years, were announced in June this year. The stated ambition of both Mayors is to revive and transform the Royal Docks into a world-class commercial and cultural destination – nurturing highly skilled and highly productive jobs for Newham residents and Londoners.

The charrette is an opportunity for architects to be part of this change – addressing key challenges in the Royal Docks area, and helping to inform a vision and strategy for the Royal Docks Team that will better serve local communities, businesses and attract visitors.

Up to five experienced, diverse architecture and urban planning practices will be chosen to work alongside local representatives, stakeholders and delivery partners on the design charrette, which will take place over two separate days in November 2018.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 3.00pm on Friday 19 October 2018.
