Despite their potential to transform resident’s lives rather dramatically, estate regeneration projects are often designed in isolation from the local community’s wants, needs and concerns.
How can architects instigate a more empathic approach to estate regeneration? At Fosters Estate in Barnet, residents have been invited to participate in a Community Steering Group as well as workshops and open events throughout the design process to capture their priorities and concerns, meaningfully participating in the evolution of the estate. So far, this collaborative process has derived an unexpected and unconventional design response that is respectful of the existing estate whilst not losing sight of the project’s purpose, coherency and objectives.
Join Allies and Morrison Director Antje Saunders for an evening of conversation on the co-design process at Fosters Estate. Book your ticket via Eventbrite, the link to the Zoom event will be sent out to participants before the event.
